DUNAVSKA NAGRADA ZA MLADOG ISTRAŽIVAČA

Konkurs za Dunavsku nagradu za mladog istraživača (Danubius Young Scientist Award) za 2014. godinu raspisali su Federalno ministarstvo za obrazovanje i istraživanje Austrije (BMWF) i Institut za Dunavski region i Centralnu Evropu (IMD), sa namerom da mlade istraživače podrže u njihovim naučnim aktivnostima koje su u direktnoj vezi sa Dunavskim regionom.

Nagrada će biti dodeljena za 14 mladih naučnika – po jednog iz svake od zemalja članica Dunavskog regiona (Austrija, Bosna i Hercegovina, Bugarska, Hrvatska, Češka, Mađarska, Moldavija, Nemačka, Nemačka, Rumunija, Slovačka, Slovenija, Srbija i Ukrajna). Iznos nagrade je 1.200 EUR za svakog dobitnika.

Dunavska nagrada (Danubius Award) ustanovljena je 2011. godine od strane Federalnog ministarstva za obrazovanje i istraživanje Austrije (BMWF) i Instituta za Dunavski region i Centralnu Evropu (IMD). Dunavska nagrada se dodeljuje pojedincima sa izuzetnim naučnim dostignućima u vezi sa Dunavskim regionom. Za 2014. godinu osnivači Dunavske nagrade uveli su i posebnu nagradu za mlade istraživače.

Kandidate za Dunavsku nagradu za mladog istraživača predlože njihova matična ustanova. Univerzitet može nominovati najviše jednog kandidata. Ocenu i selekciju pristiglih kandidatura vršiće međunarodni žiri eksperata, u kome će učestvovati i članovi Dunavske rektorske konferencije, Prvorangirani kandidati iz svake od zemalja učesnica Strategije Evropske unije za Dunavski region (EUSDR) biće pozvani na ceremoniju dodele Dunavske nagrade, koja će se održati u Austriji u maju 2014. godine.

BACKGROUND:

The Danubius Award was created in 2011 by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research (BMWF) and the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe (IDM) with the intention to honour individuals with extraordinary scientific achievements and output in relation to the Danube Region. Within a rotation system, achievements in the fields of humanities, social sciences and cultural studies are awarded in one year, and achievements in the field of life sciences in the following year.

THE AWARD:

For 2014, it is envisaged to complement this award with a specific prize for young scientists – the so-called “Danubius Young Scientist Award”. This award will be given to 14 young scientists – one in each country that is part of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region [Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary,
Moldavia, Montenegro, Serbia, the Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Romania and the Ukraine].

The award seeks to encourage young scientists to engage in the scientific examination of issues and questions specifically related to the Danube, and to stimulate the scientific community in the Danube region.

The award will be endowed with € 1,200.- for each winner of the Young Scientist Award.

AWARD Criteria

• Scientific excellence and innovative approach of the candidate’s academic work
• Thematic relevance of the candidate’s scientific work for issues related to the Danube Region
• Relevance of the candidate’s scientific work beyond the national borders
• Potential of the candidate (for example: integration in international networks, participation in scientific projects, publication history, teaching experience etc.
  – as appropriate and realistic for the respective career level)
• Participation is restricted to candidates, who have received their PhD not more than 5 years ago.

SUBMISSION OF DOCUMENTS:

Documents have to be submitted in English (exception: copy of proof of the academic degree received) and have to consist of the following parts:

A) 3 to maximum 5 pages summary of the candidate’s scientific work
(e.g. thesis, dissertation, journal article, scientific publication etc.)
B) 1 page statement explaining the relevance of the candidate’s work for the Danube
region and the relevance beyond national borders as appropriate
C) Curriculum Vitae of the candidate (max 3 pages)
D) Copy of the document related to the highest academic degree awarded (to verify the criterion of max. 5 years after PhD)

Place of submission and deadline:

SELECTION PROCESS:
The candidate has to be nominated by his/her hosting scientific organisation (university, academy of sciences, etc.) meaning that the candidate himself / herself cannot apply for the award.

Every academic institution can only nominate one candidate for their entire institution (not one candidate per institute, faculty etc.).

An international expert jury will be established (including members of the Danube Rectors´ Conference) that will be responsible for assessing all incoming nominations and for drawing up a final ranking.

The most highly ranked candidate from each of the countries of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region will be recommended for the award. The award ceremony is expected to take place in Austria in May 2014 together with the regular Danubius Award ceremony.
